Mt. Hood Lodge No. 32 met on April 14th at the Barberton Grange for our Stated Communication on the 1st Degree. In honor of Tax Day, OES Henry Wentworth provided a frugal yet tasty meal of sloppy joes, coleslaw, ice cream, and homemade oatmeal cookies for dinner. Tax form 1040-V was provided as a placemat!
After opening, we congratulated our newest EA’s, Connor and Jerammie, then held a brief discussion about the practice of holding one-day conferrals, specifically the recent event held by the Grand Lodge of Ohio. The conversation was spirited and positive. VWB David read a thank you card from the Rainbow Girls expressing gratitude for our purchase of a full-page ad in their newsletter. Brothers Alex, Dave, and Sage reported on their mentee’s status with proficiency and we read a petition for affiliation from Brother Tim H.
Several By-Laws resolutions were read with two passing and one failing. The recent District Retreat and Fifth Thursday Fun Night events were reviewed prior to moving into a slide show from a recent trip road trip which included visiting all “Lodge 32’s” in every State between here and Wisconsin. After which, a logo competition was announced as well as a review of our Lodge’s membership demographics, with a plan to reach out and engage with Brothers who may be unable to attend Lodge in person. Finally, the Lodge was closed, peace and harmony prevailing.
